The Bel Story

Jules and Leon Bel founded a cheese company in France in 1865. Thriving on its reputation for quality, expertise and innovation, Bel has grown to be Europe’s leading maker of processed cheese, exporting famous name brands to 120 countries around the world.

Since 1973, Bel Foodservice has provided chefs, caterers, sandwich-makers and food manufacturers with some of Europe’s favourite branded cheeses. With Mini BabyBel® we were one of the first companies to introduce individually-wrapped cheese portions and the idea quickly caught on in establishments as diverse as hotels, high street restaurants, workplace cafeterias, pubs and school dining rooms.

We have maintained our position as market leaders by anticipating new trends in foodservice and developing products that meet the changing needs of food professionals.

Our cheeses are made with caterers and manufacturers in mind. The range includes hard and soft ingredient cheeses along with individual snacking portions, all produced to the same exacting standards. Packaged in formats that fit easily into a catering environment, whether they take pride of place on the cheeseboard or feature as ingredients in recipe dishes. Our cheeses are high quality, nutritious, and extremely versatile.
